My research interests
I studied Geophysics at the University of Hamburg and received my diploma in 1997. During my study, my interests got focussed on the investigation of seismic structure of crust and upper mantle using teleseismic recordings, as opposed to explosive sources used in controlled-source seismlogy. Since 1998, I am a member of the department 2.4 of the GeoForschungsZentrum in Potsdam. I received my Ph.D. in Geophysics in July of 2003.
My current research interests include:
- Exploring and imaging the seismic structure of the crust and upper mantle
- Numerical applications of inverse scattering theory to teleseismic wavefields
- Special emphasis on the structure on the Tibetan Plateau and precambrian shields, the Indian Shield in particular
In addition, I am developing an architecture independent software package for seismological analysis on Unix-like systems. This package, which is called AH++, is based on a newly developed seismological C++ library and based on the widely used AH format. While it already works well, it has yet to be "cleaned up" a bit. It is therefore not yet publically released, but will be soon. The software includes programs for simple tasks like cutting of seismic traces relative to arrival times, to sophisticated programs like receiver function migration code.
My publication list can be found here.
